Art Uncovered

Art Uncovered is an ongoing portrait series about woman*/flinta artists, by the artist Luna Maluna Gri.

The series was founded in 2021 and was previously running on the website The Uncoiled (until 2025).

The starting point for the series was a book I read about Leonora Carrington. In the end the book turned out to be not really about her, her work, her life, etc. but about other prominent people in her life (like Max Ernst, who she was in a relationship with for quite some time). This made me realize how many woman* / flinta artists still don’t get the recognition they deserve, whose work and themselves are still not really seen.
So I decided enough is enough. I wanted to oppose the system of invisibility something and create a kind of “stage”, a room to show woman* / flinta artists work, talk about their experiences, their life, etc.
To take up the space which should have been theirs all along.

Note: For some of the older articles I sadly don’t have the photos which accompanied the articles anymore(they got lost in the transfer). I still decided to upload the articles to this website because I believe they and all the conversations I had with the artists are still worth reading. For each artist their Instagram and/or their website is linked in the article, so it’s still possible to see their work that way.
